Amy Armentrout

DVM, MS, DACVS-LA

Equine Veterinarian / Animal Imaging

A native of Nevada, Dr. Armentrout completed her veterinary degree in 2006 at Colorado State University where she subsequently worked at the Orthopaedic Research Center (a part of the Translational Medicine Institute). She then completed an internship and worked as an associate at Pioneer Equine Hospital in Oakdale, CA from 2006-2008. After completing her Master’s degree and Surgical Residency at Kansas State University in 2011, she worked as a surgeon and sports medicine practitioner at Burleson Equine Hospital for almost 11 years before joining the team at Animal Imaging. She is very active in the American Association of Equine Practitioners, serving on several different committees and spends her free time with her kids enjoying outdoor activities.

Joni Watkins

Owner

X-Ray and X-Cessories

Joni graduated from Texas State Technical College in Waco, Texas, in 1978 as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Following graduation, she joined Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in the radiology section of the Department of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. After five years, she transferred to the Department of Large Animal Medicine and Surgery, allowing her to combine her love for radiology with her passion for horses. She spent the remainder of her professional career there—31 years—teaching students the art of equine radiographic imaging and providing high-quality radiographs for patients admitted to the Large Animal Clinic at Texas A&M’s Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.

In addition to her duties at Texas A&M, Joni served as a consultant with 3M Animal Care Products from 1991 to 2006, contributing to the development of technique charts for various film/screen combinations offered by their imaging group. In 2006, she joined Sound Technologies, where she lectured and provided laboratory instruction in radiographic and ultrasonographic techniques.

Joni retired from Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine in October 2010.

In the summer of 2017, she founded her own company, X-Ray and X-Cessories, and currently works as an Independent Representative for MinXray, Inc., serving as a lecturer, laboratory instructor for radiation safety and imaging techniques, and sales consultant.

She has presented numerous lectures on radiographic imaging at the local, state, and national levels, including the annual meetings of the Texas, Montana, and Louisiana Veterinary Medical Associations, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, and the Northeast Association of Equine Practitioners.
