Hosted at King Animal Hospital, just 50 km north of Toronto, Ontario, this historic AAEVT Regional Meeting brings us back to Canada for the first time in decades with engaging lectures and immersive hands-on labs designed for equine technicians and assistants.

Ian Bishop
DVM DAVDC-EQ
Owner/Northern Equine
Dr Ian Bishop grew up in Prince Edward County where his father, Rick Bishop, operated Windstead Equestrian Centre – a training and coaching facility catering to A-Circuit jumpers.
He graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2009. After practicing in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario, and exploring a variety of types of practice, Dr Bishop found a niche in Equine Dentistry.
In 2023, Dr. Bishop was the second veterinarian in Canada to become a Board Certified Equine Dentist with the American Veterinary Dental College.
Nathalie Côté
DVM, DVSC, DACVS-LA
Equine Surgeon/King Animal Hospital
Dr. Côté graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Université de Montréal in 1988. Subsequently, she completed an internship and a year of surgical residency at the same institution. She continued her training at the University of Guelph where she obtained a DVSc in Large Animal Surgery. She remained there as a clinician and faculty member until 2003.
Dr. Côté then joined a reference centre in equine surgery and opened her own establishment in partnership with another veterinarian in 2007. During this time, she continued to teach in the VSTEP program, a program that helps graduates from foreign countries take the Canadian Veterinary Entrance Examination. Since February 2017, she has held a faculty position at the University of Guelph. Dr. Côté has been certified and diplomatic with the ACVS since 1997.
Albert Torrent
LV, DIPL. ACVS-LA, MS Candidate
Equine Surgeon/King Animal Hospital
Originally from Catalonia, Spain, Dr. Torrent earned his veterinary degree (LV) from Universidad Cardenal Herrera – CEU in 2005 before completing advanced surgical training through a Large Animal Surgery Residency at the University of California, Davis. He later served as an equine surgeon at the Université de Montréal’s large animal hospital and most recently as an Assistant Professor in Large Animal Surgery at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph.
At King Animal Hospital, Dr. Torrent’s clinical interests include minimally invasive surgical techniques, upper airway procedures, complex abdominal surgeries, emergency cases, and podiatry. He is also pursuing a master’s degree focused on improving postoperative outcomes and advancing regenerative therapies in equine patients.
