This year’s AAEVT Annual convention was a hit!
For the first time in the history of the AAEVT at our annual convention we had more first time attendees than veteran attendees! This is an extremely exciting time for our organization, our membership continues to grow, our numbers are higher than ever, and we are continuing on our mission to support and mentor the next generation of equine veterinary professionals.
We kicked off the convention with a trip to Circle Oak Equine Rehabilitation Center where we got to see first-
hand the use of the Hydrohorse Underwater Treadmill and the use of the Cold Saltwater Spa! What a unique experience!
Following the wet labs were 3 days of insightful and inspirational scientific sessions, round table talks, and case studies presented by renowned veterinarians and fellow technicians!
This year’s lecture sessions included a range of topics; including a keynote address from Dr. Betsy Charles on leadership, How to Transition from technician to Manger, Donkey and Mule Anesthesia, and Diagnosis of Arrhythmias by Auscultation and Electrocardiograph to name a few!
All of our sessions were held at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, due to construction of the Marscone Center, we know this was not convenient to all but the short walk to the trade show lead to even more educational opportunities and attendees got the first glimpse of our beautiful new AAEVT booth! Feedback from this year’s attendees included requests for the continued professional development sessions, as well as advanced instruction on radiographic positioning, hoof analysis, and ultrasound of the heart and abdomen.
Special Thanks to our sponsor’s and our attendees for their support of our organization! We look forward to Denver, Colorado in 2019 –see you there!
