Regional Contacts serve as our “Boots on the Ground Liaisons” between our members and the Executive Board. They oversee a specific region of members, maintaining regular communication and reporting directly to the Regional Director.

Their duties include, but are not limited to: supporting the Regional Director with projects, assisting with meetings, and addressing member concerns. They participate in monthly virtual meetings to discuss projects, share ideas, and report any issues or communications directly to the Regional Director.

It is important to note that only current and active members in good standing with the Association are eligible to hold a Regional Contact position.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in the equine veterinary industry (student members are not eligible)
  • Must have been a member of the AAEVT for at least two years
 

Regional Contact Position:

  • Term: Minimum of 1 year, maximum of 3 years
  • Responsibilities: Facilitate regional communication, increase membership, share ideas, mentor members, support regional meetings and the annual conference, communicate member concerns to the Regional Director, and assist the Regional Director with various projects.
  • Benefits: Complimentary membership during the term of service, stipend for participation in required meetings, opportunity to become an Executive Board Member, and the ability to share and implement new ideas while mentoring members in your region.

How to join the AAEVT Executive Board?

Our Executive Board positions are filled from our pool of Regional Contacts. Serving as a Regional Contact provides members with a comprehensive understanding of AAEVT’s operations, preparing them for Board-level responsibilities.

Only current and active members in good standing with the Association are eligible to hold office.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in the equine veterinary industry (student members are not eligible)
  • Must have been a member of the AAEVT for at least two years
  • Possess good moral, ethical, and professional aptitude
  • Have served in a volunteer capacity for the Association, such as:
    • Regional Contact
    • Chair or Member of an AAEVT Committee or Task Force
  • Note: It is preferable for officers on the Executive Board to be actively involved in the Equine Veterinary Industry.

What are Executive Board positions?

President Elect

  • Term: Three years (serving sequentially as President Elect, President, and Past-President)
  • Responsibilities: Lead and represent the AAEVT through various stages of organizational growth and development. Co-chair the AAEVT Scientific Program with the President, focusing on Wet Labs, Case Studies, and appointing Moderators for Speaker Sessions.

President

  • Responsibilities: Prepare Board Call Agendas along with the Executive Director, ensuring timely and effective completion. Primary focus on the AAEVT scientific portion of the annual conference, including speakers, agenda, and topics. Appointing Task Forces as needed. Attending any Association Alliance/Industry Partner Meetings along with the ED and responsible for working with the Executive Board in reviewing the annual contract of the Executive Director and communicating changes or additions for review.

Past-President

  • Responsibilities: Collect and oversee all donated items for the Raffle/Silent Auction at the annual conference. Compile a list of donors, item descriptions, and contact information for thank-you acknowledgments and recognition. Compile a report of monies collected for various scholarships and present it to the board.

Vice President

  • Term: One year
  • Responsibilities: Support the President and assist in executing AAEVT initiatives, including managing the AAEVT Community Facebook Member Page and serving as an Academic Liaison.

Regional Director

  • Term: Two years (elected by Regional Contacts)
  • Responsibilities: Represent and oversee the Regional Contacts, acting as a liaison between members, regional contacts, and the AAEVT Board while contributing to the strategic direction of the AAEVT.

Secretary/Treasurer

  • Term: Two years
  • Responsibilities: Draft and post all meeting minutes, ensuring all Board members review and approve the minutes. Assist the board with initiatives, including keeping a list for the Executive Director of all action items and resolutions, as well as any policy and procedure changes created and decided upon throughout the year. This list should be finalized one month prior to the AAEVT Board meeting at the annual conference.
