It takes a village to transform horses from an at-risk equine to the Right Horse. At The Right Horse Initiative, we know it involves incredible work by many people stepping up for horses in transition and that work deserves to be celebrated. The first annual Good People for Good Horses Awards will recognize outstanding community members who have dedicated their time and talents to helping horses in transition.
Who are the ones you can count on to come out and feed in a blizzard, make a farm call in the middle of the night, or find just the right person to give a home to that special-needs equine? All U.S. based equine welfare advocates and members of the horse community are invited to nominate one or more individuals or organizations in six categories:
- Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician*
- Trainer
- Volunteer
- Farrier
- Community Partner (such as a riding club, event center, boarding barn, etc)
- Wild Card (anyone else – such as member of the media, photographer, advocate, fundraiser or staff member)
*A total of 3 awards will be given in the Veterinarian/Veterinary Technician category based on geographical location in Western, Central and Eastern regions of the United States as noted below.
Awards will be given based upon the nominee’s contributions to equine adoption efforts and the success and impact of the adoption organization they serve. To nominate, fill out the form HERE
Nominations are due no later than September 16th.
